Review: Walking Dead Episode 1

Suspense! Story! Thriller! (Yeah couldn't help myself). This game has all these things with this point and click style game.

Story: You play as Lee an ex lecturer who murdered a congressman who was sleeping with his wife. You find yourself in a police car being driven away from Atlanta when you hit a walker (zombie) and it all falls apart for Lee more. Eventually you meet with Clementine, who stays with you for the whole story. You meet various people, have to make tough decisions and dialogue options which keep you on your feet. You will feel something for each of the characters when making decisions that decide their fate. Your decisions interact with later on in the game, future episodes and who is with you through the game

Gameplay: A point and click game with plenty of quick time events, this game is different from your standard Zombie game, like Left 4 Dead or Dead Rising. The main focus of the game is character development and trying to survive Your main objective is trying to get away from the undead horde and keeping Clementine safe. You have various clicking quick time events where you need to punch/kick/shoot a zombie which is the more action packed moments. The rest of the time you are looking around with what you can interact with and give you clues on what to do next. Luckily you can turn on a feature which can help you find them easier.

Presentation: A comic book style similar to the XIII, it has its own look and feel. The zombies look grotesque and the image is sharp. The use of dark and gritty colours showing that this world has been thrown into chaos immerses you into a realistic world where you are fighting for survival. The voice acting is well done with a convincing script which gets you to feel for the characters more.

A good story, delivered and presented well which deserves your attention if you are a fan of story based or zombie themed games.
